国内ミニホームステイ英語プログラムが開催されました！

2020年度より新型コロナ感染症予防対策のため、国内ミニホームステイ英語プログラムは日帰りでの実施となっていましたが、今年度から1泊2日で実施しており、前期の7月に続き、後期は12月2-3日に開催されました。寒いながらも天候にも恵まれ、8名の参加者は富士見にあるジュリアンズ・ペンションにおいて、自然を満喫しながら英語でのアクティビティと一足早いクリスマスを体験してきました。
参加前は英語でのコミュニケーションに不安を抱えている学生も多かったですが、積極的に話そうと努力をした人、完璧な英語でなくてもいいのだと気がつき、苦手意識が少し減った人、また、自分の英語力不足を感じて、これからもっと英語で話す機会を増やそうと思った人もいました。
クリスマスディナーに釣られた人、自分の英語力を試したいと思った人、非日常を体験したいと思った人など、それぞれの理由で勇気を出して参加を決めてくれましたが、参加者全員が「参加してよかった」と述べており、「期待以上に楽しかった」「思っていたより理解できた」と、充実した経験になったようです。

This year’s program was filled with a variety of engaging activities. We were delighted to reintroduce the overnight program, allowing us to incorporate more activities that reflect the ways families celebrate Christmas together around the world.
The students gained a deeper understanding of the rich traditions and meaningful connections that families cultivate during Christmas celebrations. Aside from the familiar practices of gift-sharing and enjoying delicious meals, participants discovered that families often spend 1-3 days together, actively engaging in Christmas preparations. This includes tasks such as assisting in the preparation and serving of Christmas meals and snacks, playing games, and helping with the decorations.
Other activities include reconnecting with friends and family members they may not have had the chance to catch up with during the busy year. Another common occurrence is the introduction of new individuals to the household, fostering new friendships among the participants. Additionally, the exchange of recipes and the exploration of new foods and drinks emerged as popular topics of conversation during the holiday season.
This year, we were thrilled to offer students this unique experience. The level of English used during the Christmas program was slightly more advanced than the summer program, and we were impressed with how well all the students participated. We are pleased to report that they had a great time, meeting Santa, and enjoying a traditional Christmas dinner.
The success of this year’s Mini Christmas Homestay Program is attributed to the active participation and positive experiences shared by all involved. We look forward to continuing and expanding such enriching programs in the future.
