英語村「5月第4週」
更新日: 2018年05月28日
最初は「英語が苦手だから」と英語村に来るのを躊躇していた学生たちも、常に優しく接してくださるアンダーソン家の方たちのおかげで、「リラックスできた。楽しく過ごせた」という前向きのフィードバックをたくさんくれました。案ずるより産むが易しですね!
カトリーナ先生の「英会話 ミニ講座」に、本日登場のya’llは、アメリカ南部地方の言い方だそうです。興味深いですね。
Thank “ya’ll” for coming to English Village this week. We were really interested to hear about your weekend, as well as your busy life at Rikadai. “Fingers crossed” for those of you who were scheduled to give presentations and turn in papers this week. Please tell us how it went at the next English Village.
And for those of you who haven’t visited us yet, please stop by sometime and tell us about what’s happening in your “neck of the woods”.
- ya’ll : (plural second-person pronoun) is a contraction of you and all, largely used in the southern states of the U.S.A.
- Fingers crossed: (informal expression) to hope that things will happen in the way that you want them to
- neck of the woods: (informal phrase) the area someone comes from, or the area where you are
